Curriculum Vitae

1993/1995
Self-taught, the artist began attending the studio of sculptor Pedro Pinkalsky, where she worked with soapstone starting in August 1993. In July 1995, in the studio of sculptor Renato Brunello, she came into contact with marble. That same year, she participated in the I Arts Hall of the Arts newspaper of the Mokiti Okada Foundation - SP, placing second. In December 1995 she went to Pietrasanta - Italy, where she spent six months working exclusively with hard stones (marble and onyx) in different studios, such as Laboratório Palla, Laboratório Silverio Paolli and the studio of Belgian sculptor Kobe Saelens.
1996
In October 1996, she held the exhibition “Stones, colors and charms of the Earth” at SESC Pinheiros - SP with jeweler Alexandre Costa, and with lithographer and designer Ivone Couto, an exhibition at the Japanese restaurant Kabuki Mask, in São Paulo.
1997/1998/1999
In August 1997 she held the exhibition “Marble and Onyx” at the headquarters building of Porto Seguro - SP, in addition to the exhibition “Ita” at the Messianic World Church of Brazil in September. In the same month, she received the third-place award at the XXIX Exhibition of Contemporary Brazilian Art - Chapel Art Show, at the Chapel School - SP. She participated in the collective exhibition “The Way of the Stones”, along with Pedro Pinkalsky, Ivone Couto, Ivan Stancati, and Attílio Fontana Neto, at the Mokiti Okada Foundation - SP. In March 1998 she won the contest of the Ministry of Culture - FUNARTE - participating in the “Occupation Project of the Mario Schenberg Gallery”, with the project “Tactile Waves”. In October of the same year, she held the exhibition “Tactile Waves” at the Mario Schenberg FUNARTE Gallery - SP and participated in an exhibition at the Catuai Art Space, in Londrina, Paraná. In 1999 her works were used for recordings of Aguinaldo Silva's soap opera "Suave Veneno", from Globo network.
2000/2001
In 2000, her works were used in the recordings of Manoel Carlos' soap opera "Laços de Família", from Globo TV Network. In 2001, she participated in the collective exhibition: "2001: An Art Odyssey" at Vorpal Gallery, in San Francisco, California, USA. That same year, some of her works were used in the recordings of the soap opera "Estrela Guia", by Ana Maria Moretson, also on Globo Network.
2002/2003
In 2002, she moved to Spain and began to display her work at the Lecrin Gallery, in Marina del Este, Granada. That same year, her works were used in the recordings of Glória Perez's soap opera, "O Clone", from Globo Network. Starting from 2003, she held permanent exhibitions at the Summer Gallery in Marbella, Málaga, and also at the Hotel La Tartana in La Herradura, Granada.
2006/2007
In 2006, she held an exhibition at the Hicks Gallery, in Wimbledon, England. In 2007, she participated in an exhibition at the Felicia Hall gallery, in Granada - Spain, and also the Summer Show at The Biscuit Factory gallery, Newcastle, UK. In September of the same year, a severe flood completely destroyed her studio in La Herradura, Granada, Spain.
2008/2009
In 2008, she moved to Doncaster, South Yorkshire, UK, where she worked and also taught stone sculpture at Doncaster College. She participated in exhibitions at the Open Space Galleries, Penryn, Cornwall, UK; Brevon Art Gallery, Doncaster, UK; Newby Hall and Gardens, Ripon, North Yorkshire, UK; Doncaster College, Doncaster, UK; 12A Gallery, Doncaster, South Yorkshire, UK. She was accepted as a member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors, able to use the title ARBS after her name: Renata Barcelos ARBS.
2010
She exhibited at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, with the sculpture park The Sculpture Park (www.thesculpturepark.com), in London, UK. She participated in other exhibitions at the Project Gallery, with Ian Latham and Michael Bunn; at Newby Hall and Gardens, Ripon, North Yorkshire, UK; “SAP 10 – Sculptures and plants” at Hall Farm, Harpswell, Lincolnshire, UK; “Practice what you preach”, with professors from Doncaster College/University of Hull at The Point, Doncaster, South Yorkshire, UK.
2011
She participated in exhibitions at the Cuppola Gallery, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK; and at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, with the sculpture park The Sculpture Park, London, UK. She donated the sculpture “Plankton” to Doncaster College/University of Hull. In June of that year, she returned to live in Brazil.
2013
In 2013, she began working with ceramics, especially porcelain, with sculptural pieces and also with a design line, participating in various fairs such as Rosenbaum and Mercado das Madalenas.
2015
In 2015, she began to be represented by the Nicoli gallery in São Paulo, Brazil.
2015-2023
From 2015 to 2023, she devoted herself entirely to ceramics, encompassing both design aspects (jewelry and decorative/utilitarian objects) and unique, one-of-a-kind sculptures.
