Renata Barcelos is a sculptor who creates unique pieces in stone and ceramics, as well as a line of porcelain design.

She is represented in Brazil by Galeria Nicoli, located in São Paulo, and her main characteristic is her original work with noble stones such as marble (Carrara, Espírito Santo, Giallo Siena, etc.), granite (Ouro-velho, Juparaná, etc.), and quartzite (Macaúbas), among others.

The hardness of stones is measured on the Mohs scale, which ranges from 1 to 10. Talc occupies the first position, and diamond is at the tenth position due to its maximum hardness. Marbles are classified with three points, granites with five, and quartzites with seven points on this scale. To work with these stones, three types of tools are used: manual tools (mallets, chisels, sandpaper), electric tools (chisels, drills), and pneumatic tools (pneumatic hammers, chisels).
